VIGO
(“Vicus Spacarum”) Pontevedra, Spain.
City on the Atlantic coast of Galicia. A Celtic camp located here was replaced by a Roman town, probably the Vicus Spacorum of the
Antonine Itinerary. Finds include 20 funeral stelai, the work of local Romanized artists.
They bear symbolic reliefs and inscriptions (discs, radiated circles, stars), and one of them is an altar to Mercury.
